Stanford Environmental Law Society

Mission: To increase awareness and participation in environmental issues and activities on campus and in the community; to influence public policy, law, and jurisprudence; to provide opportunities for environmental advocacy; to improve the environmental policies of Stanford Law School and Stanford University; to promote environmental careers, practices, and scholarship.

Aside from the projects listed to the left, ELS is an active member of the National Association of Environmental Law Societies (NAELS). NAELS is a dynamic and growing organization that provides ELS members with the opportunity to network and collaborate with, as well as learn from, other environmental law students from around the country.

Also, the ELS writes, publishes, and sells numerous handbooks on such topics as the Endangered Species Act, land-use practices, recycling, and water policy.
